"Maryang-ri Camellia Forest"
Maryang-ri Camellia Forest, designated as Natural Monument No. 169 in April 1965 for protection and management, is a famous tourist attraction in Seocheon. In the forest, which is densely green all year round, the camellia blossoms bloom in late March. The forest is situated on the eastern area of a hill, which offers protection from the winds coming from the adjacent sea, and there is a colony of some 80 camellia trees that are about 500 years old. The Dongbaekjeong Pavilion built on the forest hill offers a splendid view of the West Sea, and it is especially famous for the spectacular view of the sunset. Photographers and tourists flock to this area to watch the glow of the sun as it sets behind the horizon of the West Sea and taken in the harmonious sight of the sea and uninhabited islands.
